Enhanced Recreation and Amenities

To improve the quality of visitor experience and create future generations of Coloradans with cherished memories of the High Line, the Campaign will fund innovative nature play areas, benches, rest areas, gathering spots and beautiful wayfinding and interpretive signage.
* Little Dry Creek Land Donation – Upon successful completion of the Campaign, a 26-acre property in Centennial will be transferred to the Conservancy. The site will be the new, permanent home of the Conservancy and is envisioned to become an open space park.
* High Need Community Enhancements - Many reaches of the Canal lack historic investment and are underutilized, particularly in the diverse communities of Denver, Aurora and Unincorporated Arapahoe County. For the Canal to reach its full potential in these areas, community-informed improvements such as nature play, gathering spaces, shade structures, tree plantings, interpretive signage, access improvements and recreational amenities are planned.
* Interpretive and Wayfinding Signage - Directional and informational signage will improve accessibility and navigation of the Canal. Engaging interpretive signage will increase appreciation for the Canal by sharing the story of the Canal’s agricultural history, unique ecology, and highlighting the importance of water in the development of the west.
* Furnishings - New furnishings will improve user comfort and experience with practical amenities that promote use of the trail including benches, picnic tables, dog-waste stations, bike racks and bike repair stations.
* Gathering Areas - Several reaches of the Canal have the potential to become gathering places, beckoning community members to linger along the Canal and connect with friends, family and community.
