Preservation and Protection
To sustain the Canal corridor in perpetuity, funds will be used for Canal corridor care, revitalized landscape and environmental health, with a focus on enhancing the tree canopy and incorporating stormwater management into the Canal’s purpose.
- The Forever Fund – An endowment to ensure long-term support to care for Canal’s basic needs as it transitions to a community recreation, stormwater and ecological amenity.
- Tree Planting - The Canal’s tree canopy will be renewed with a new generation of over 3,500 drought tolerant trees planted over time. Tree planting will prioritize diversity of age and tree species to promote a resilient tree canopy and improve air quality, wildlife habitat and enjoyment for future generations.
